The Semantic Media Project - Powering FunMail's Media Brain
The Semantic Media Project is an open initiative to enhance everyday communication through graphics, and eventually sound and animation.
At the core of the project is the FunMail Media Brain, a new technology that "learns" how to find the best piece of relevant content for a specific text message. Content is ingested in real-time from Creative Commons and other sources, or can be contributed and tuned directly via this website. Soon, anybody will be able to flow in content from their social network and mobile phone, building a rich, user-created visual lexicon.
Our vision for the Semantic Media Project is to enable and enliven human communication of any kind: texts, tweets, status updates, RSS Feeds, chat, comments – any and all, by seamlessly enhancing text with relevant, high-quality media. That's why we've made the FunMail API available free of charge to most projects that would like to use it. We hope to see new applications built leveraging FunMail and the Semantic Media Project that we've never even thought of!
The Semantic Media Project is an open community and we invite you join our mission in enhancing human communication by contributing artwork and photos. Or simply use a FunMail-enabled service to send messages – every FunMail sent counts as a "vote" that strengthens the weighted relationship between a phrase and a piece of content.
